That homophobic tweet about a football match is hard to stomach. Shocking that a 25-year-old professional soccer player could say or think or TWEET such a thing in 2016!
I’m all for looking at the silver lining and not the cloud. The incident shows us how far things have progressed for the better in the UK.
The prompt reaction to the tweet shows that most people find this attitude unacceptable.
- There was an immediate angry response on twitter.
- The tweet was deleted.
- Its author apologised.
- There was a professional investigation,
- A match ban and fine.
- And we are told there has been or will be training of all at Coventry City football club.
Look: homophobic behaviour is not accepted by football clubs, by the FA or by most of the public.

In the last few weeks I’ve read not one but two novels with an asexual character in the romantic plot. I can recommend both.
Ace of Hearts by Devin Morgan is an M/M romantic novella
Jack of Thorns by Amelia Faulkner (bk1) is more of a Harry Potter or Percy Jackson or Trials of Apollo for grown-ups, a Modern Urban Fantasy epic featuring Gods and magic with lots of questions left open for the next installment.
